Angus Young

Angus Young was born in Scotland on March 31, 1955. His brother and fellow band member is Malcolm Young. Angus' family moved to Australia in 1963 to look for work. He is notable for wearing his school uniform, an idea which his sister suggested. He is also well known for his wild antics on stage.

Malcolm Young

Co-founder

Rhythmic Guitar, Background vocals

1973-Present

 

Malcolm Young was born in Scotland on January 6, 1953. His brother and fellow band member is Angus Young. Malcolm's family moved to Australia in 1963 to look for work. Malcolm also does background vocals with Cliff Williams.

Cliff Williams

Bassist Guitar, Background vocals

1977-Present

Cliff Williams was born on December 14, 1949 in England. Cliff replaced former bassist Mark Evans in 1977 because AC/DC needed someone who could also sing background vocals with Malcolm Young. 

Phil Rudd

Drummer

1975-1983, 1994-Present

Phil Rudd was born on May 19, 1954 in Australia. Phil Rudd had been AC/DC's drummer up until 1983 when he was fired as a result of indifferences with Malcolm Young. Eleven years later, the band was eager to work with Rudd again. He is still with the band today.

Brian Johnson

Lead Vocals

1980-Present

 

Brian Johnson was born in England on October 5, 1947. Brian is notable for wearing his English driving hat, which was given to him by his brother to help keep sweat out of his eyes while he was singing. AC/DC's first album with Johnson, Back in Black, soared to the top of the charts.

Bon Scott

Lead Vocals

1974-1980

Bon Scott was born in Scotland on July 9, 1946. It is said that Bon joined AC/DC to be the drummer, but got lead vocals after current lead singer Dave Evans failed to show up, along with Evans being "too glam". Scott's voice clearly took AC/DC to the top. Bon Scott died on February 19, 1980 after a night of heavy drinking.
